Melissa Erkmen

President

Melissa is in her final year of Civil Engineering and has just recently completed a 16-month internship at Plains Midstream Canada in the Project Development team. This year, Melissa will be leading the EEESA council as President and is looking forward to working with the team to organize social, academic, and professional events for the Schulich student body! Melissa hopes to provide opportunities for students to connect with members of industry, learn more about the energy and environment sectors, expand their academic and professional portfolios, and get to know their fellow ENEE peers better! Outside of school, Melissa enjoys hiking, running, reading, and photography.

 

Cole Roberts

Senior vp

Cole is currently interning at Pason Systems as an Electrical Design and Test Intern. As the Senior Vice President, Cole is looking forward to creating more opportunities for the ENEE student body to connect with one another, and members of the field from academia and industry. Cole is looking to build on EEESA's incredible ability to build a community passionate about making a sustainable difference in thecommunity. His hobbies include playing golf (poorly), hiking, and board games.

 
 
 

Kelly Santos

VP Finance

Kelly has finished her third year of Civil engineering and is currently on an internship as part of the contaminated sites team for Water Survey of Canada. As VP Finance, she aims to support fellow EEESA members and other ENEE students in learning and pursuing various opportunities, whether they are academic or industry-based. Through this, she hopes to help foster a tight-knit community filled with people who share similar goals within the energy and environment sector. In her free time, Kelly likes to spend her time either climbing, reading, or cooking.

Aiden is in his third year of Electrical Engineering and has taken the role of director of events for EEESA. He hopes to engage students in fun and helpful events to engage the student body and foster a community among students in the energy and environment minor. Sarah Le

Director of Marketing

Sarah is a second-year Civil Engineering student. As the Director of Marketing, she hopes to promote EEESA and its activites to a broader audience through creative campaigns on social media. She commits to design appealing merchandise to represent EEESA's identity and values. Sarah loves sunflowers, teddy bears and spreading positivity. In her free time, she enjoys writing, volunteering and grocery shopping.

 
 

Luigi Colombo

Trips co-Director

Luigi is a chemical engineering student with a minor in energy and environment engineering. He recently finished his internship with Canadian Natural Resources Limited, where he spent the summer of 2022 operating in a heavy oil field near Wabasca, Alberta, and spent the remaining 12 months at CNRL’s downtown office to assist in emissions management for the company's entire conventional field. Luigi is excited to return to EEESA as Trip Director after spending the last two years executing and assisting with student-led trips to both Switzerland and Denmark. His main goal for the 2023-2024 academic year is to bridge the gap between the industry and university through the development of student-led tours and events that convey the importance of sustainable engineering in an interesting and captivating manner. Outside of school, Luigi enjoys playing hockey and baseball, hanging out with his dog, and playing guitar.

 
 

Jose Gutierrez Quintero

CO-INTERNSHIP REPRESENTATIVE

Jose has finished his third year in Chemical Engineering and is currently interning at Nova Chemicals. He serves as half of the internship representatives this year and hopes to help ease the internship stress for his fellow engineers. In his free time, Jose enjoys biking, cooking and the occasional karaoke session.

 
 

Anita Malekian

Director of Funding

Anita is in her final year of Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Energy and Environment and has recently completed an internship at TC Energy. As Director of Funding, she looks forward to her role on the Schulich Students Activity Fund council, where she will help decide how to distribute available funding amongst engineering clubs. She will also help EEESA connect with potential sponsors and other sources of funding. Anita recognizes that it is up to this generation of engineers to confront the global energy problems affecting the environment's health and strives to learn more about these issues through EEESA. She is also actively an ambassador of the Water Movement and the President of the Petroleum and Energy Society. Outside of school, Anita enjoys playing and watching soccer, travelling and paddle boarding.

 

Ella Abbruzzese

VP External

Ella is entering her final year of Civil Engineering after completing a Co-op term with the Water Survey of Canada. As VP External, she hopes to connect with Industry and students to share EEESA's mission of energy and environmental related innovation. Her hobbies include running with the campus running club, hiking in the rockies, and crocheting (badly, but still with passion).

 
 

Linnaea Carter

VP Events

Linnaea is in her final year of Civil Engineering, following a 16-month internship in the building restoration field. As the VP Events, she wants to create a community among members of the Energy and Environment minor! In her free time, she like to hike, ski, or read under a pile of blankets with a cup of tea!

Ana is a fourth-year student studying electrical engineering. Joining the team for her second year, Ana is planning on enriching the minor and the level of academics in it, through her role as VP academics! Simultaneously, Ana enjoys practicing karate, camping and you can often catch her smiling ! :)

 
 

Elizabeth Pretorius

VP Marketing

Elizabeth is going into her final year of Chemical Engineering with a minor in Energy and Environment after completing 12 months of internship at Suncor and 4 months at Petronas. She hopes to help the team organize events that encourage careers in the energy and environment industry and provide advice on engaging with the ENEE student community via social media. Elizabeth is also the co-president for the Petroleum and Energy Society. Currently Elizabeth's very into hiking, bouldering and reading!

 
 

Mason Mueller

Trips co-director

Mason is in his third year of Mechanical Engineering. This year, as Director of Trips, Mason is looking forward to planning and organizing domestic and international excursions to explore facilities that are contributing to the sustainability of our planet. He hopes to pursue a career of renewable energy and global sustainability. Away from school, Mason plays guitar and enjoys all outdoor activities such as ski touring, climbing, camping, and fly fishing, to name a few.

 
 

Samantha Amundarain

Samantha is currently interning as an Environmental Engineering Student at Paramount Resources Ltd. As one of the internship representatives, Sam hopes to coordinate events useful for students planning to take an internship year and provide opportunities for current interns to stay in touch with their university peers. When Sam returns from her internship in September 2024, she will enter her final year of Chemical Engineering. But until then, Sam will be busy working, reading as many books as possible, and learning to knit!

 
 

Erik Barrett

Trips advisor

Erik just finished his third year of Chemical Engineering with a minor in Energy and Environment. He is currently completing a 16-month internship with the Technology Development team at ATCO in Calgary. Erik is looking forward to his role on EEESA as Trip Advisor where he can help plan trips and activities for students to help them learn about the importance of sustainable development. Once graduated, Erik is looking to further Canada's energy transition by pursuing a career in carbon capture systems or nuclear energy. In his free time, Erik is a passionate long distance runner and when he's not at work or the university you can find him running with his friends on Calgary's fine parks and trails.
